What is TOPIK?
TOPIK stands for Test of Proficiency in Korean.
It is a Korean language proficiency test for people who do not speak Korean as their first language.
This exam is commonly taken by foreigners planning to study, work, or immigrate to Korea.
📝 TOPIK I (Beginner Level)
Test Sections: Listening + Reading
Target Learners: Beginner
Levels: 1-2
Scoring:
- PBT Level 1: 80–139 points
- PBT Level 2: 140–200 points
🖋️ TOPIK II (Intermediate-Advanced Level)
Test Sections: Listening + Reading + Writing
Target Learners: Intermediate to Advanced
Levels: 3-6
Scoring:
- PBT Level 3: 120–149 points
- PBT Level 4: 150–189 points
- PBT Level 5: 190–229 points
- PBT Level 6: 230–300 points
🎯 How to Prepare
- Learn basic grammar & vocabulary: ~1,800 words for beginners, 3,000+ for intermediate & advanced
- Listening practice: audio exercises and conversations
- Reading practice: short texts, articles, and comprehension exercises
- Writing practice: simple sentences to essays depending on level
